In the past 20 years, Sara Marcum has served in the field of education in many capacities and all
within our neediest communities in the Phoenix metropolitan area. She began her career as a
classroom teacher working with English as Second Language students, served as school
administrator, an adult ESL instructor @ Rio Salado Community College, and currently serves in
the capacity of Parent Engagement/Education Coordinator in a large Phoenix district. In her
current district-level position, Sara supports Title I schools in their endeavor to increase student
learning and achievement through the development of partnerships with families and
community.

Besides serving on AZ ASCD board of directors, Saraís other community service includes:
South Mountain Community College Community Advisory Board; Secretary and Treasurer of
Tempe Toastmasters Club 1715; former Girl Scout leader; and recently joined St. Maryís
Basilicaís chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

It is with great pleasure that Sara serves as your Treasurer and co-chair of the Professional
Development committee for AZ ASCD.
