Arizona has new science standards! This presentation is designed to help teachers or administrators who are not familiar with the document understand the layout, how three-dimensional science instruction helped develop the standards, some key insights to navigating the document, and outline the goals and changes of the new standards. This will help educators navigate teaching with a three-dimensional approach with the 2018 Science Standards in the classroom.

Outcomes

  • Participants will be given a high-level overview of the new 2018 Science Standards.
  • Participants will gain knowledge of what the three-dimensions are: 
    • Science and Engineering Practices
    • Crosscutting Concepts
    • Core Ideas 
  • Participants will understand the difference between high school essential and high school plus standards.
  • Participants will learn how the standards are coded.
  • Participants will review timelines of implementation and assessment.

Time: Registration starts at 4:30pm; Training from 5:00-7:00pm
